1yo Pitbull Terrier with red skin spots

Red dry chew spots on skin of pitbull terrier

Red dry chew spots on skin of pitbull terrier

I have a 1yo pitbull terrier. What can I do to stop her chewing her hind end? Have try bathing more often, have changed food, can you help?

Thanks

Hi Deon,

The most important thing is to find out why she is chewing on her hind end and then treat that specifically. I assume you have already ruled out fleas. Allergies can be caused by a number of things, contact dermatitis, grass, pollen, and food.

If you have tried skin soothing shampoos and the skin is still irritated it might take a prescription anti-inflammatory to break the scratch itch cycle. See your vet for this. Finding the cause of this is much easier than always switching sampoos and food.

Thanks,

Dr. Chris
