3 Questions You Must Ask Your Veterinary Clinic
by Dr. Chris
November 7, 2008 Many people choose their veterinarian by how close the clinic is to their house. Many people also don't ask basic questions about the quality of care that the veterinary clinic provides.
Here are three questions you should ask any veterinary clinic before you drop your pets off.
1. Overnight Care
When pets have to stay overnight in the clinic is there someone there who is there all the time? Or does the person only stop by periodically through the night? Is the person who stays overnight a veterianrian, a veterinary technician, or an untrained kennel person?
2. Monitoring
What type of equipment do you use to monitor the animals while under anesthesia? Do you have a pulse oximeter to measure the pet's oxygen levels?
3. Anesthesia
What type of anesthesia do you use? Is it gas or injectable? Are there any possible side effects? Who monitors the pets while they are under anesthesia?
These three questions are a good starting point for providing the quality of care we expect our pets to receive.
