9 years old and he has recently had a large lump on his nose that has no fur on it, it is blackish gray in color

by Catherine
(Tulsa, OK)

My cat is about 9 years old and he has recently had a large lump on his nose that has no fur on it, it is blackish gray in color, and is quite large and protruding from his face. I was wondering what course of action I should take to either remove the lump or to lessen it. I cannot tell if it is causing my cat pain but I do not know if it is dangerous to him to leave it. About a year ago he had another large lump on his side behind his front leg and it just fell off but this one just keeps getting larger. What should I do to take care of this problem?

Hi Catherine,

Due to the age of your cat and the location of this lump, it is important to see your vet as soon as possible. Cats can be prone to tumors on the face that can be quite aggressive, and they are best treated when they are smaller, so that is why you should see your vet.

Thanks,

Dr. Chris
