Annual Check Up!
by Theresa
Each December my two cats go in for an annual checkup with our vet. Usually booster shots are required but more important they will receive a physical examination and its a chance to talk about any physical or behavioral changes. Last year, reviewing Madeleine's health record she noticed recent changes in her weight. A blood test confirmed she had hyperthyroidism. Untreated this disease could have seriously threatened her life, leading to expensive treatments and surgery. Now she's thriving on medication. Also last year my vet recommended that on their next annual visit I have their teeth professionally cleaned. We discussed the cost of this and I have been able to put away money each month to allow for this next month. As my cats get older my vet is able to offer advice on their diet. It's reassuring for me to hear that they are healthy and that I'm doing a good job taking care of them. I look at my annual vet visit as a form of insurance. It's an opportunity to catch any problems early on. This is good for my cats and my pocketbook! Top 10 Things I Wish I'd Learned in Veterinary School FLAVORx Introduces Digital Flavorist Software |
