Are There Alternatives To Pet Insurance?
by Dr. Chris
August 3rd, 2009 While pet insurance might seem to be a great thing to some people, the verdict is still out. EVEN veterinarians still DON'T really agree if pet insurance is a good idea.
So if you don't want to buy a policy for your pet what are some alternatives to pet insurance?
Here are some alternatives to think about:
1. Start your own emergency saving fund for your pet and contribute regularly to it. Instead of paying the insurance company $30 a month, put it in the fund.
2. Care Credit, and credit cards. If used responsibly Care Credit can be a good way to get an interest free loan if you pay the money back in time. Normally you get about 24 to 36 months to do so. Actually more and more credit companies are coming out with medical credit cards for this purpose.
3. Consider a discount program like PET ASSURE. They have a program where you get 25% of EVERY VET VISIT.
This program is definetly worth checking out if you want to skip the whole pet insurance thing. (and your vet participates)
Their website is http://www.petassure.com.
