Banfield is pushy, overpriced, and not ethical
by: Jan Erickson

I bought the Wellness Program for my new puppy, because it included the neutering service. The day of the surgery, I had asked for them to remove 4 puppy teeth that were in front of his adult teeth. I knew I would be charged for it.
About 45 minutes before the surgery, they called my husband and told him that it was going to cost $400.00 to remove 4 baby teeth. He tried to get in touch with me, but I wasn't available, so not knowing what charge should be, he OK'd it. He felt pressured because they needed to start the surgery.
When we went to pick him up, I expressed my concern over the price, because I had the time to check with other veterinary hospitals in the area. I was sent to corporate HQ and then back to the Coon Rapids clinic, where I was told I could get money back ($100) if I signed up for the following year plan. Blackmail??
I will not take my puppy back there, because of this. Also, the very next day after the surgery, I had to take him back because he was in so much pain, and developing an infection. It cost me another $47.00 for antibiotics & additional pain meds and 2.5 hours off of work. The plan was over $500.00, and the neuter was $500.00, not a good deal at all.
After many phone calls, I did get $100 back.
