Barking Dog CollarA barking dog collar is sometimes an unfortunate piece of equipment that many of us have to buy. While we love our dogs, sometimes there can be a little too much barking. Fortunately these collars have become much more humane over the past few years. Here are three different types of barking dog collar to choose from.
Citronella CollarsCitronella collars are a great humane choice. Whenever your dog barks there is a reservoir on the collar that emits a burst of citronella. Dogs do not like the smell of citronella, but it is not harmful to them either. Once the dog learns to associate that when they bark they smell citronella, the barking soon stops.
Vibrating CollarsVibrating collars are great because they are very humane. Dogs find vibrations on the neck annoying, and thus will stop barking.
Shock CollarsShock collars are usually the traditional barking dog collar. In the past many people did not like them because they did thought they were very inhumane. However the level of electricity has been reduced and most collars now give off a low level of vibration before the actual shock. This gives the dog a chance to stop barking before any actual shock. Remember a barking dog collar should just be one part of your dog behavioral modification plan. You should not solely rely on the dog collar to change your dog's behavior.
