what my basenji was for me!

MY DALRING 16 YEAR OLD HAS GONE TO HIS OWN DOGGY HEAVEN...THIS WAS THE MOST AGONIZING DECISION I HAD TO MAKE.. I LOVED HIM FROM A 12 WEEK OLD PUP, TO THE LAST MOMENTS OF HIS LIVE....HE WAS SOMETIMES DIFFICULT AS THE BREED IS, BUT HE GAVE ME NOTHING BUT JOY, AND PLEASURE FOR ALMOST 16 YEARS.....AND HOW HE LOVED HIS 2 CATS AS WELL!!...THEY ARE A WONDERFUL, FUN, ELEGANT DOG BREED, AND LOYAL AND SUPER INTELLIGENT.......I MISS HIM WITH ALL MY HEART AND SOUL! I thank God for letting me have him.....

Basenji Reproductive Cycle

All dog breeds may have an estrus cycle at any time of they year, but Basenji bitches only cycle in the late summer/early fall.

Thus making it much harder for Basenji dogs to get pregnant and have a litter.

Other then that the signs of estrus in the dog are the same:

1. Swollen vulva
2. Vaginal discharge
3. Flagging (lateral deviation of the tail)
