Bedlington Terrier
History The Bedlington Terrier originated from a mining town in northern England. Originally the breed was known as the Rodbery Terrier, and may have played a role in the development of the Kerry blue carrier. Temperament This dog is has a good temperament but when threatened is able to defend itself and its owner. ItŐs considered extremely smart in a very reliable dog. Coat Since the coat is very woolly it needs to be brushed in daily and groomed at least a weekly. This dog is considered to be non-shedding and hypoallergenic and may be a good idea for people who have dog allergies. Exercise Since this is a fair sized dog it requires lots of exercise. A big house with a large backyard would be an ideal setting for this dog. These dogs would not do well in small apartments or condominiums. Diseases Overall, a very healthy dog, but one of the more famous diseases of this breed is copper toxicosis. This breed is very prone to accumulating copper in the liver, which can lead to liver failure.
