Beware of Summer Plant Poisonings

June 13, 2009; With summer almost upon us it's time to be a little bit more careful in your backyards with your dogs and cats. Did you know that there are almost 1000 species of plants are considered poisonous to dogs and cats.
Plants like daffodils or bulbs of hyacinth can be fatal to animals.
Autumn crocus plans, Glory Lilies, and the star-of-Bethlehem are other examples of very poisonous plants.
The lily of the valley is another plant that while it looks beautiful can be very deadly to your dog
Other plants that are poisonous include cornflower, black eyed susan, golden glow, lantana, sweet peas, and bleeding heart.
Indoors can be just as deadly for some pets plants like caladium, alocasia, elephant ears, and philodendrons.
So before you plant take a few minutes and research if the plants you desire might be fatal to your dog.
