Calico Cat with hemorroids

by Stephanie
(NE)

My 14 year old Calico cat has a growth on her anus and when I try to touch it she growls and runs away. I believe she might have a hemorrhoid. She does eat moist food everyday to help her pass stool. How do I treat this health condition? Is there a cream I can buy to help this condition?

Thank you.

Hi Stephanie,

It could be just a hemorrhoid or it could be something more serious. If it is as painful as you say I would take her to the vet to look at it, to truly identify what the cause is. Hemorrhoids in cats can turn into a more serous condition like a distended colon.

Thanks,

Dr. Chris
