Cat dribbling urine

my cat is a little over a year old and i have noticed lately she is not urinating all the way she also has been sitting on plastic bags, clothes or anything else and looks as though she is using the bathroom and walks away with a drop of urine, she also does the same in the litter box ...... is there anything i can do for her? megan

Hi Megan,

If she appears to be straining to urinate or only urinating in short amounts is likely means she could have a urinary tract infection. Urinating more frequently and urinating in smaller amounts are signs of a possible urinary tract infection. If this describes what you are seeing you should make an appointment to see your vet and see if you can get a urine sample to take with you.

Thanks,

Dr. Chris
