Cat peeing and pooping on bed

we have 2 10y.o. cats, and not had any issues other than fleas in past.in the past 2 weeks one of the cats has taken to peeing and pooping in our bedroom (not diarrhea).we have sprayed that "no" stuff to no avail, now have pepper and chili powder on the floor in the bedroom ,if we let her in she does this,if we keep her out,she uses the first opportunity to do it.i am at whit's end,and am thinking of having her put down as we have thrown away many pairs of shoes, etc,as the smell of cat pee does not come out.do you have any advice.

Hi,

You could try placing an upside down mat on top of your bed (the ones that have tiny spike across the bottom) The cats don't like this and will learn to stay off the bed.

Since she only does this in your bedroom you could keep the door closed for at least a week. The reason I suggest this is to break the habit that your cat is in. Or keep your cat locked in just one room by itself for a week with a litter box, again to try and break this pattern.

There are lots of variations to try before deciding to put your cat down.

Dr. Chris
