Cat peeing and pooping on bed

we have 2 10y.o. cats, and not had any issues other than fleas in past.in the past 2 weeks one of the cats has taken to peeing and pooping in our bedroom (not diarrhea).we have sprayed that "no" stuff to no avail, now have pepper and chili powder on the floor in the bedroom ,if we let her in she does this,if we keep her out,she uses the first opportunity to do it.i am at whit's end,and am thinking of having her put down as we have thrown away many pairs of shoes, etc,as the smell of cat pee does not come out.do you have any advice.

You could try placing an upside down mat on top of your bed (the ones that have tiny spike across the bottom) The cats don't like this and will learn to stay off the bed.

Since she only does this in your bedroom you could keep the door closed for at least a week. The reason I suggest this is to break the habit that your cat is in. Or keep your cat locked in just one room by itself for a week with a litter box, again to try and break this pattern.

There are lots of variations to try before deciding to put your cat down.

Cats peeing as well
by: Jennifer

I have 2 cats that are 14 or 15. recently found out one was diabetic and switched to $50 cat food. They have been peeing for over 10 years around the house. I can't take it anymore took to vet and he said they seemed healthy. What do I do I cant take the peeing anymore. My family's health is important to me and this cannot be good. Would putting down seeming healthy cats be ok? Would a vet even do it? I need help tried everything! emotionally I cant take it anymore. I know that this will be very hard for me to do because my cats have been a big part of my life, half my life at that but i have a 3 year old son and this cant be healthy for us. If I call a vet to put them down will they understand? i cant give them away I would be worried someone would mistreat them for their peeing and I would have to tell them and I think no one would take them after they find that out anyways. Please someone help

Regarding 17 Year Old Cat
by: Anonymous

Sorry to hear about your cat's problem.

17 years is old for a cat, but it is not that old, many cats live into their 20's.

The two main causes for peeing on the bed could be due to either 1. a medical problem, or 2. a behavior problem.

The first thing to do when their is a sudden behavior change in a cat is to have a veterinary examination done.

Once the vet says the cat is healthy and it does not appear to be a medical cause, then look for reasons why their could be a sudden behavior change.

Is there a new source of stress in the house? Has the litter box been moved, is there a new type of litter, has a new person moved into the house, etc.

my 17 year old cat
by: Anonymous

my cat is about 17 years old she recently started peeing on the bed is because she is old is it another reason she does this. Mini has been spayed since she 6 years old she a very affectionate cat she loves people. My mom thought it was because she was albino but I think its because of hr age or food shes been eating,so I changed her diet to senior food.

what I am wondering is can that be changed or is it to late for her and start thinking of putting her down. That would be my last resort if I can but I really need some advice on this matter.

peeing on bed
by: Anonymous

I have 6 cats and I also have trouble with one or more of my cats peeing on my bed. I put down a plastic table cloth on the bed and that worked for a while but now they just crawl under it and do their duty. I also am at wits end.
