Cat Won't Leave Christmas Tree Alone!by Dr. Chris December 15, 2009 Many people this time of year are experiencing first hand how curious cats can be. I have am experiencing this as well. My wife decorated the tree very nicely, but our newest cat, Abby, decided to climb all over it. This made a once beautiful tree look beaten up. So if your cat always seems to be intrigued by your Christmas tree too, here are some things that you can do. SCAT Mat This is just a basic electronic mat that emits a noise when your cat walks on it. Some people think it works great. Tin ToilA cheap solution. Cats don't like to walk on tin foil. Just lay some of this at the base of the tree to keep them away. Spray BottleSpray bottles always work, but you have to be around to use them. Also for behavior modification purposes the punishment must be immediate otherwise it won't work. Motion Detection AlarmsThere are other alarms you can buy that emit a sound similar to the SCAT mat. You can find a wide variety at home improvement stores. More ToysTry and keep your cat occupied by more toys. I hope you and your family have a great holiday!
