Christmas Puppy Supplies
by Dr. Chris
December 23, 2009 A few people seem to give pets as Christmas gifts and the holidays can be a great time to accept a new pet into your life and as a part of your family. If you’ve gotten a Christmas puppy here is a quick list of the puppy supplies that you should think about getting for your Christmas puppy.
Stainless Steel Bowls
If possible get stainless steel bowls and avoid plastic bowls. Stainless steel bowls are easier to sanitize and will last much longer. Also, plastic bowls are lighter and tip over much easier.
Crate and Bed
You need to crate training your puppy, so buy a crate of the appropriate size. Also buy a nice small fleece bed to put inside the crate to them comfortable.
Shampoo and Brushes
Buy shampoo that is specifically made for dogs. They have a different pH than human skin, so human shampoo can really dry dog skin out.
Also buy a nice slicker brush to keep your dog's coat nice and shiny. This also prevents a lot of hair balls in your house.
Kongs and Rawhide Chews
Puppies love to chew on things which is why you need to provide them with alternatives to chewing on your shoes. Things like Kongs and rawhide chews are great.
Collar and Leash
Every dog needs a collar. The collar should be tight enough to barely fit two fingers inside. Also on that collar should be an identification and a rabies tag.
Many of these supplies for your Christmas puppy can be bought in a convenient kit. Here is a recommended one: Puppy Kit.
