The Belgian Malinois dog was originally part of the shepherd dogs developed in Belgium in the 1900ís. The first Malinois was registered and recognized in 1901. The Bernese Mountain Dog has had a long history in Switzerland with images of the dog appearing as early as the 17th century. It was often depicted in religious paintings of the period. The Bloodhound dog is best known for its scenting ability and was deployed to capture escaped slaves and criminals. The most noted breeds are the Cuban, the English and African.
