Declawing
by Caroline Morin
(Ontario, Canada)
Did you know that declawing is illegal in many countries?
That's because declawing is the equivalent of removing your fingers up to the first knuckle. If you MUST get it done (when it's either keeping the cat or giving it up), make sure your veterinarian is certified in pain-management techniques, and only take the claws from the front.
If you don't mind saving your kitty a lot of pain, learn to trim their nails (it's easy!) and/or invest in Soft Paws--little caps for their claws that fall off after about a month.
