Denmark Bans 13 Dog Breeds

July 2, 2010 This week Denmark increased the number of dog breeds banned from the country to 13. The law, which became effective on Thursday, will not allow anyone to enter the country with a dog from the banned list.

For Denmark citizens who already have owned one of these dogs before March 17th, they have to keep the animal muzzled or on a leash at all times in public. Anyone who violates this law will have their dog removed, and the dog would likely be put to sleep.

Denmark already banned 2 dog breeds, the pit bull terrier and the Tosa Inu in 1991, when other European countries did as well.

The United States should also ban these dogs. The pit bulls are victimized the most. The torture these dogs have to endure at the hands of their owners is unconscionable. I agree with Denmark's ban...the dogs are the ones that suffer!

Don't ban the dogs

Don't ban the dogs. Make the punishment for animal abuse more than a slap on the wrist! Maybe a few months in jail, a fine, &/or some community service is all that will happen to a person for extreme animal cruelty. That is nothing compared to the harm the PEOPLE that abuse animals cause. The dogs are not the problem, it's people that are the problem. I own 2 American Bull dogs & I've owed Pit Bulls in the past, I've NEVER had ANY problems with them.
