Did you know there are three bulldog breeds?
by Dr. Chris
February 20, 2009 Whenever someone talks about bulldogs most people assume they are talking about English bulldogs. But don't forget there are also American and French bulldogs.
American bulldogs are the largest of the three breeds. French bulldogs are the smallest. This is the breed that has the "bat ears"
French bulldogs normally weigh no more then 25 pounds, the English bulldog can weigh up to 50 pounds, while the American bulldog can reach up to 125 pounds!
American bulldogs are further divided into types, the Scott and Johnson types. These are the breeders responsible for their unique appearances.
