Dog acting weird, not very active

by Mindy
(Oregon)

My dog is acting weird, he was very active yesterday and today when i went to bring him into the house he would not come,he just sat there and whined. when i carried him into the house he just laid there like he wanted to sleep. i gave him some water and he drank it and i noticed he did not eat his food. he does have drool and his nose is warm but dry. i rubbed him down to see if he was in pain but he did not wimper. is he ok or do i need to go to the vet asap? PLEASE HELP ME!

Hi Mindy,

There could be several reasons why your dog is not acting normal. If he does not appear in pain, it could possibly be due to the summer heat. If your dog does possibly have heat related symptoms it is best to bring him in the house, offer water and keep him cool. A decreased appetite in a dog could also be due to heat.

If your dog is showing no visible improvement, a good physical exam by a veterinairan should reveal the cause.

If it is a pup(under 6 months) and has not yet had preventitive shots it could be parvo, GO TO VET! Otherwise contact your vet and get him in as soon as possible, you never know what it could be.
