Dog Brings Home Human Skullby Dr. Chris May 3, 2010 A dog brought home a human skull on Friday which he retrieved from a vacant lot near his owner's house. "Saw my dog sitting at the end of the porch by the stairs, and there was something sitting next to her," said Houston resident Stephanie Adams, whose dog discovered the remains. "And I couldn't quite tell what it was -- I walked up to it and I noticed that it was a human skull. But at first I thought it was, like I said, an elaborated Halloween decoration, so I kind of, like, turned it over and I'm like, ‘OK, that is not fake.'" After that she called the state troopers, and that is when they found the rest of the body. According to Amanda Peters, a spokesperson for the Alaska State troopers, the time of death has not been established yet, but obviously the death did not occur recently. Also because it was a recent find they still cannot determine if there was foul play at work, or if it is related to a missing person's report. The lot is located in the enchanted Forest subdivision. The rumor that's going around town is that it is the body of a 25-year-old woman. The Bloodhound is the dog with the best sense of smell, and it has been estimated they have 300 million receptors for smell, versus 200 million for the average dog. Dogs can differentiate smells at concentrations 100 million times lower then humans can.
