Dog Eats Entire Beehive and Livesby Dr. Chris
August 30, 2010 Last week Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI) company gave out its annual awards for most unusual insurance claim. As usual, there were a large number of contenders. But the winner was a dog named Ellie, who had beaten an entire beehive. Apparently, Ellie not only ate the beehive, but also all of the bees as well. Also the beehive had been sprayed with insecticide to kill the bees. But thankfully Ellie fully recovered. Other contenders for the number one prize included a terrier dog that tried to bite a chainsaw, and a border collie that wanted to chase the mailman so bad it ran through a glass window. Luckily always animals recover and are doing just fine today. As you may remember, last year's VPI insurance winner was Lulu. Lulu's owner became concerned because she noticed that Lulu had eaten a baby pacifier. On exploratory surgery, the veterinarian actually found 15 pacifiers, a bottle, and a piece of a basketball inside of Lulu. The owner was very shocked because Lulu had never even shown any signs of being sick, and she had never seen Lulu eat anything except for one of the pacifiers. **Before buying a pet policy be sure to compare pet insurance prices from at least 3 different companies.** To read more blog posts go here: Veterinary Blog To sign up for my newsletter go here: Veterinary Newsletter Top 10 Things I Wish I'd Learned in Veterinary School FLAVORx Introduces Digital Flavorist Software |
