dog with mass

by Paula
(UK)

Please can you help.... my 11 yr old papillion had a golf ball sized lump removed yesterday from his buttock area, the vets says there is a good chance it is cancer although there is no other signs of him being sick.
can you tell me if this is a common area for cancer and if it is a treatable area?

Hi Paula,

The best thing to do to find out if it is cancer, what type of cancer it is, and if it is treatable or not is to look at a piece of the tumor histologically. Ask your vet if they or a pathologist will diagnose the type of cancer (if it is cancer)

Dr. Chris
