Dog with skin tag by lower eye lid

by Tom
(California)

My dog has a skin tag on his lower eye lid. Does this require surgery with Anesthesia or can it simply be cut off with out Anesthesia.
thank you.

Hi Tom,

Normally it depends on the temperament of the dog and how close the skin tag is to the eye. The vet would likely sedate your dog, because you do not want to bring a sharp instrument near your dog's eye and have them move suddenly. Also, it is hard to assess if there will be any bleeding associated with the removal.

Thanks,

Dr. Chris
