Dog with swollen paw after anesthesia

I took my dog to the vet to have her teeth cleaned, 12 hours later I have noticed that she has a bruise and swollen paw. I guess it's where they injected the anesthesia. Is it normal?

Hi,

Most dogs have anesthesia injected into their front legs so a proper dental cleaning can be done. There can be swelling in the area and bruising like people get sometimes after donating blood.

If it looks excessive or if your dog appears in pain I would contact your vet for further assistance.

Thanks,

Dr. Chris
