Dog Flea TreatmentsThere are a wide variety of dog flea treatments on the market today, but the major ones are Frontline Plus and Advantage. Both of these dog flea treatments have advantages and disadvantages, which I'll discuss here.
Frontline for Dogs Advantages
Frontline for dogs should be bought from a reputable vendor. If you don't know how to properly use frontline for dogs contact your veterinarian. Or you could also just follow the instructions on the package. You buy Frontline Plus based on your dog's weight. Each box contains three or six vials (3 or 6 months of treatments). The product/weight breakdown is as follows:
11-22 pounds Frontline is great because it kills 100% of fleas and ticks and 24-48 hours and breaks the flea lifecycle quickly. Actually many of the fleas are killed before they even get a chance to bite which prevents your dog from getting any flea related allergies or sicknesses. The pre-measured childproof vials are easy to apply, stain and odor free. It's a monthly application that kills 100% of fleas within 24-48 hours. It's for dogs and puppies 10 weeks of age or older.
Advantage Advantages
Advantage kills 98-100% of fleas mostly within two hours of application. This is great because it kills fleas before they have a chance to lay eggs. It's effective for up to six weeks at a time, so you don't have to give it every four weeks. It's water resistant, so dogs can swim and bath. It comes in a pre-measured childproof package. These dog flea treatments are stain free, and to apply you simply dispense the dose between the shoulder blades of the dogs. It is made for dog and puppies over seven weeks of age. |
