English Bulldog Puppy; is vitamin supplementation necessary?

by Jennifer
(Winchester, KY)

We are getting an English Bulldog pup from a breeder in Illinois. She tells us that we need to feed the puppy Eukanuba large breed puupy food and use NuVet Plus as a vitamin supplement. It the vitamin supplement necessary? Thank you.

-------------------------------------

Hi Jennifer,

If you are going to feed a high quality diet like Eukanuba then a vitamin supplement for your dog is likely unnecessary.

There are circumstances where a vitamin supplement for dogs could be necessary. If dogs are over worked, stressed, or sick, or even receiving a lower quality diet.

Most of the people that want you to use vitamins are also people that sell vitamins so be aware of this as well.

Thanks,

Dr. Chris
