FEED RAW
by Prey4Pets
Dogs, cats, and ferrets are carnivores by nature - they are meant to eat raw, whole, fresh prey. You can emulate their natural diet by feeding raw, whole bone-in meats and organs. Any dry or canned food is *garbage* no matter how much you pay for it, and it will lead to chronic health problems, giant vet bills, and heartache. Dry food is the worst, especially for cats who need moisture in their food. Dry kibble is mostly GRAIN, is cooked and processed and full of rancid, rotten slaughterhouse byproducts. It is as appropriate to feed to dogs and cats, as would be if you fed your children nothing but fortified Cheetos and Dr. Pepper their whole lives! Check out Dr. Tom Lonsdale's "Work Wonders: Feed Your Dog Raw Meaty Bones" and "Raw Meaty Bones Promote Health" for a shocking look at the pet food industry and their collusion with the veterinarians and "humane" organizations - all are out to keep your dogs and cats sick, to keep the profits rolling in! There are humane, ethical, and green sources of raw meats and whole prey for pet food. It might seem like it costs more, but you "pay the farmer, or pay the doctor". Raw feeding pays for itself many times over in loss of vet bills. If you're resourceful, you can also feed raw for FREE (I've done it). Go for the whole foods, not the ground mush or "BARF", and no veggies are required (dogs and cats don't benefit from them). There are internet suppliers who ship to your door, local raw food co-ops all over the country, and of course the meat case at your grocery store. Feed variety, feed whole, make sure there's enough liver in the diet and not too much bone (bone is cheap, but!), get good info from the internet especially when switching cats and ferrets to raw (rawfedcats.org is a great one). Feeding fresh food to your dog is NOT difficult, don't fall prey to the fearmongering among vets. If you can feed yourself/your kids, you can feed your own pets too. The difference will astound you. Rawfed pets get and maintain clean healthy teeth, stop shedding/horking hairballs, smell better, look better, maintain better weight, healthy kidneys, soft coat, small odorless stools, better resistance to parasites (fleas, worms) and disease, and rawfeeding can cure or mediate many chronic diseases and "normal but not healthy" conditions. No worries about tainted ingredients, because YOU control all of it. Seriously, you need to check it out, if you love your animals and want them to survive these hard economic times!
