Flea stuff and pain
by Dr. E. Muehleisen
Please note that many dogs cannot stand the flea medications that are applied between the front shoulder blades. With a standard sized longhaired dachshund we applied 5 different medications to his back in a six month series. Each time the dog would be anxiety ridden, pacing about the room, shaking and acting in a peculiar fashion. After the last episode, the worst, we took him to a vet hospital. Our vet had pooh-poohed the story related to him. At the hospital, the vet immediately reached for an electric clipper and he bared my dog's shoulder area. There was what looked like a chemical burn over a 3 sq. inch area. I had been burning the devil out of his mind for 6 months! Please, note if your dog begins to act terribly bothered after a flea doping episode. The companies that supply the stuff just made out like I was nuts.
