German Man Marries Cat

May 7, 2010 Who says men don't like cats! A German man liked his cat so much that he decided to marry it. According to the BBC, Uwe Mitzscherlich, 39, married his cat. Apparently what brought on the marriage is that the cat did not have much longer to live.

Apparently, the cat had asthma, and after the veterinarian told him the cat did not have much longer to live, he married it. Mr. Mitzscherlich has lived with the cat, named Cecilia, for over 10 years.

He is a postman, and he is quoted as saying "Cecilia is such a trusting creature. We cuddle all the time and she has always slept in my bed. The cat was 15 years old.

He paid an actress 300 Euros ($395) to perform a ceremony, although it is illegal to marry pets in Germany. Do they really need a law for that? I guess they do!

Christin-Maria Lohri is the actress who performed the ceremony. She is quoted as saying "At first I thought it was a joke. But for Mr Mitzscherlich it's a dream come true".

The bride wore a white dress, and the groom wore a top hat and wedding suit.
