Hartz Naturals Real Beef Treats for Dogs Recalledby Dr. Chris
Hartz Naturals Real Beef Treats for Dogs
September 5, 2010 The Hartz Mountain Corp. announced this week that it was voluntarily recalling Hartz Naturals Real Beef Treats for dogs. This is because the product line may have been potentially contaminated with salmonella. Hartz is working with the USDA in this recall. This adds to the recent strain of salmonella related recalls of pet products. Hartz is recalling almost 80,000, 8 ounce bags of Hartz Naturals Real Beef Treats for dogs. The lot code is BZ0969101E, UPC number 32700-11519. Apparently these products were imported from a Brazilian supplier called Bertin S. A. Although Hartz did not detect any contamination on its random sampling, the FDA did detect Salmonella samples in several packages. At this time Hartz is not reporting any cases of pets becoming ill due to eating this product. In order to contact Hartz call 1-800-275-1414.
