Horse Milk Propagandaby Dr. Chris December 27, 2008 Horse milk for human consumption has been around for hundreds of years, but recently there seems to be an increase in the marketing of horse milk by producers. People who sell horse milk claim numerous health benefits, none of which are backed up by hard science. It is not unusual for people who market food products to make unfounded claims, it happens everyday. Some claims on horse milk are that it will help with metabolic, gastrointestinal, and liver problems. It will help recovery for severe illness, skin problems, cholesterol problems, and stiff joints. They will tell you all the various subtle flavors that horse milk has. What they won't tell is that the taste of milk is greatly influenced by what the animal is eating and the breed of horse. Economically the only way to make money from horse milk is to sell it at a very high price. Cows are much cheaper to keep and produces over 20,000 pounds of milk a year. Horses produce but a fraction of that and are much more expensive to maintain. I doubt that horse milk will catch on anytime soon. The people who could afford this milk would be few in numbers, and the people who could afford to start a horse milking farm are even fewer. Read My Other Blogs Posts Here
