The most common color is black and white and they rarely are taller then 11 inches. But they do have great personalities. HistoryJapanese Chin dog's development and source is from China. They were breed for the only function of accompanying the women of Imperial Palace and heating up the laps of Chinese nobility. Some historians beleive that regular people could not own them. Only royalty could, and they would give them out as gifts to visiting diplomats.Physical FeaturesThe Japanese Chin is little, nicely balanced, energetic, and aristocratic. It is a toy breed with a unique Oriental appearance. It has a plumed tail and the coat is smooth, gentle and straight.The dog's head has a square look. Ideal size is eight inches to eleven inches at the maximum point on the withers. Length amongst the breast bone and the buttock is the same as the height on the withers. Either white and black, white and red, or white and black with tan spots. PersonalityThe Japanese Chin is an alluring, energetic, and joyful animal. Pleasant, caring and clever. Affectionate and responsive with those it loves and knows but reserved with other people or in new circumstances.Common Health ProblemsJapanese Chins are at risk of distemper, eye issues, heat prostration and respiratory problems.
