male pitbull 9 yrs old with eye problem

The dogs are my girlfriends but they are staying with me.I was wondering if there is anything i can do because the dogs skin around the left eye is raw and there is brownish colored discharge coming from the open skin. The dog keeps rubbing it which leads to the skin remaining open and raw.Is there any thing i can put on it to help it heal?---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, this dog needs to see a vet. One thing you can do until you can get him to the vet is put an e-collar on him. This will prevent further damage to the eye. At the vet, he/she will likely examine the eye and cornea to make sure there are no corneal ulcerations. If it is just confined to the skin around the eye and not the eye itself, antibiotics and an e-collar should clear the problem, but that is up to your vet.

Thanks for also submitting a picture of this pitbull's eye problem!
