Man with 178 Cats Forced to Do Community Serviceby Dr. Chris
October 4, 2010 in Fond du Lac Wisconsin, a man who was found hoarding 178 cats has been forced by the judge to spend 100 hours helping animals. The man, Allen Roach, pleaded no contest to 10 counts of failing to provide proper sanitation for animals. The judge, ordered Mr. Roach to one year of probation and to complete his 100 hours of community service for the Columbia County Humane Society. If he violates his probation by further mistreating animals, he will go to jail according to the judges sentence. This dates back to last year when police raided the defendant's home and found floors that were covered with urine and feces. Also the sewage drainage was blocked in the basement as well. As police officers entered the home, the smell of urine made their eyes water. Many dead cats and kittens were found in the refrigerator, while an untold number were likely buried in the backyard. In total 178 animals were rescued. Due to the state of condition of the house, it was demolished by the city of Fond du Lac.
