Mysterious Dog Poisonings in Duluthby Dr. Chris May 29, 2010 The Duluth police department are warning people in the East Duluth neighborhood of Lakeside, to be extra cautious in their taking their dogs for a walk after one dog, a golden retriever, appeared to have been poisoned this week. This came after a veterinarian determined that a recent dog's death was a result of poisoning. This led police to investigate several other cases of suspected dog poisonings. Apparently 8 dogs have died in the Lakeside neighborhood in the last 7 years, since 2003. Some of the dogs were on their own property at the time of their deaths. Carrie Lance, of the Duluth Animal Control Unit said the dogs were all killed with the same substance, but could not say what the substance was due to the current investigation. According to the press release signs dogs have been poisoned may include restlessness or hyperactivity, seizures, vomiting, incoordination, and increased heart rate. Police ask that if you have any more information related to this case to call them at 1-218-390-2291. Related articles: 1. Dog Poisoning Symptoms 2.
