Nestle Purina Buys Waggin Train Dog Treats Co.by Dr. Chris
Waggin Train Western Grill
September 13, 2010 Nestle Purina has announced the purchase of Waggin Train Dog Treats company. Nestle is the parent company of Purina. They purchased Waggin Train for a reported $415 million. Waggin Train is famous for selling its dogs for treats through grocery stores and other pet stores. Its recently expanded lineup features western themed treats like the Western Grill and Cowboy Steaks. Waggin Train will be a subsidiary of the Purina Pet Care company in the United States, the maker of some of America's top dog foods. It appears that Purina purchased Waggin Train as a way to help beef up its dog snack offerings in the real meat segment. Purina is the make of Purina Fit and Trim, and Purina One Dog Food. The US regulatory commission is expected to approve of this transaction by the end of September.
