Norfolk Terrier Dog Breed Profileby Luke Blaise AKC Group: Terrier Group The Norfolk Terrier dog is very similar to the Norwich Terrier except for the ears. The Norfolk dog has folded ears, and the Norwich dog has pointy ears. They are the smallest breed in the terrier group. HistoryA local of England, the Norfolk terrier is the identical twin of the Norwich terrier. It was created as a farm ratter and utilized to bolt vermin like fox from dens during hunts. In the year 1979 the breed was divided into two, the Norwich and Norfolk would be two separate breeds. Nowadays, the 2 breeds have small distinctions and various dog standards.Physical FeaturesIts active little, free-moving, with good bone and substance. Having its natural, weather-proof short legs and coat, it's a "perfect demon" for the field. Height on the withers nine to ten inches at maturation. Bitches are usually small compared to dogs. Size of back from tip of withers to base of tail must be a bit lengthier compared to height on the withers.Weight eleven to twelve pounds or whatever would work for every individual dog's balance and structure. Fit working state is a primary concern. The defending coat is tough, wiry and direct, about one-and-a-half to two inches long, lying near the body, with a distinct undercoat. All tones of black and tan, grizzle, red or wheaten. Dark points allowable, white marks aren't desirable. PersonalityThe Norfolk Terrier is active, affectionate, balanced, and courageous. They are simple to teach, and require regular rules to follow. These small dogs love everyone and they are good with kids.
