AKC Group: Terrier Group The Norwich Terrier dog is the smallest of all terriers. Originally used to hunt vermin in England. A very energetic dog that has a wiry coat that is easy to care for. Special Note: The NORWICH Terrier has upright ears, the NORFOLK Terrier has dropped ears. Closely related breeds, with the ear being the only difference. HistoryThe Norwich Terrier dog came from East Anglia, England and was created as a farm ratter. They were utilized to flush fox and also other vermin that use dens.Now they are a loving family pet. Before, they had two ears styles but today, they are only allowed to have their ears upright. Only in the late 70's was the Norfolk terrier, a separate breed with dropped ears recognized. Physical FeaturesThe Norwich Terrier is the tiniest dog connected with the terriers. They should not be over 10 inches tall. They usual weigh about 12 pounds.They are bubbly and sturdy with a somewhat foxy appearance. Norwich terrier is a strong descendant of ratting dogs, willing to get rid of small mice from the house. The coat that almost weatherproof. It is wiry, hard and straight. Acceptable colors are wheaten, red, and black and tan. PersonalityNorwich Terriers are very courageous, affectionate, and active. They are so lively, happy, fearless, affectionate and loyal. They can adapt well and if you are a sports enthusiast, they are the best companions.Common Health ProblemsNorwich Terriers are prone to back problems. Also eye diseases are common to them.
