Pit Bulls Continue to Kill at a Disproportionate Rate

U.S. fatal pit bull attacks have surpassed 170 since 1998; the last year the CDC studied fatal dog attack data. In the 20-year period of the CDC study, pit bulls averaged 3.8 deaths per year. During a recent 6-year period, from 2005 through 2010, data from DogsBite.org shows that pit bulls averaged 17.5 deaths per year, up roughly 450%.
