AKC Group: Non-Sporting Group The Poodle dog is one of the more intelligent breeds of dog. This breed comes in three sizes, toy, miniature, and standard. A classy dog, that often wins overall champion at dog shows. HistoryThe breed started in Germany as a water retriever. The elegant "Poodle clip" was developed by hunters to help the breeds handle the water better. The pads of hair left on the body are designed to protect joints and vital organs that are vulnerable to cold. The standard variety is the most ancient of the 3 sizes. The Miniature variety could have been accustomed for truffle hunting. The Toy was frequently used in circuses and performances.Physical FeaturesThe Toy is ten inches or below at the maximum point of shoulders. Any Poodle that is more than ten inches at the maximum point of the shoulders can't be competitive in AKC show arena as a Toy Poodle.The Miniature Poodle should be over ten inches and fifteen inches or lower. Any Poodle that is over fifteen inches or under ten inches can't compete in AKC show arena as a Miniature Poodle. The Standard Poodle is over fifteen inches at the maximum point on the shoulders. Standard Poodles that are fifteen inches or lesser can't compete in AKC show arena as a Standard Poodle. PersonalityDue to their intelligence, they are are very easy to train. It is very easy to teach them to do tricks as well. They love being around people and are usually very good with children as well.Common Health ProblemsThe most typical severe health problems cancer, epilepsy, hip dysplasia, juvenile renal disease, sebaceous adenitis, and tracheal collapse.
