AKC Group: Terrier Group The Smooth Fox Terrier dog is not well known. But it important because many terriers have descended from it. It has characteristic V shaped hears and a slanting muzzle. Originally considered the same breed as the Wire Fox Terrier, they are two seperate breeds. HistoryThe Smooth Fox Terrier came from the British Islands in the 17th century. Possessed by farmers who wanted help eliminating vermin, the dog used its enthusiastic nose, exceptional eyesight and strength to drive fox as well as other quarry out of their dens.Physical FeaturesThis dog has folded over V shaped ears and a tapering muzzle. The eyes are normally black.They are usually less then 16 inches tall and weigh less then 18 pounds. PersonalityThe breed must show a generally active, gay and lively appearance.Common Health ProblemsThe life span of Smooth Fox Terrier is twelve-fourteen years.
