The Freedom Leash with inventor Amber mcCrocklin The Freedom Leash

After considerable product development, Amber McCrocklin is finally getting ready to take The Freedom Leash to market. This unique product is a one-hand operated, dual, retractable leash that enables owners to walk two dogs without the hassles of cord-tangling or maneuvering two leashes at once. With an inside compartment that spins to prevent the cords from crossing over or tangling, The freedom Leash offers a new and ground-breaking way of walking multiple dogs. With two 10-foot retractable cords, it provides the freedom of one-hand operation while keeping your pets safely controlled.

The Freedom Leash has been generating significant buzz at several tradeshows this spring and Amber hopes that the product will help deseasonalize her current portfolio of products that are sold mostly during the summer months. “I came up with the idea for The Freedom Leash because I have two dogs myself and I got tired of always having to do the leash dance”, says Amber referring to the “graceful” twirling moves she did in order to untangle the leashes. Because households with multiple dogs make up the majority of dog owners, there is certainly a big potential market for her new product.

- Dual leash designed to handle two dogs at a time
- Leash spins to prevent tangles
- One hand operation

Freedom Leash

Great idea but not all it's touted to be. I waited 5 months (backorder) before receiving the leash. I was surprised that it felt like it weighed more than the 1 1/2 lbs stated in the catalog. The rotating action of the head is not very smooth and the leashes do tend to get intertwined frequently. The leads should be longer than the stated 10 feet. My leads only goes out a little more that 7 feet. Not sure if it's a manufacturing defect or the company ran out of line.
Fix these issues and you'd have a nifty leash for a pair of small dogs. Not sure I'd walk two Bull Mastiffs or similar sized dongs with it.

Great promise, but ...
by: Michael F.

I was so excited to see this product on Good Morning America a few months back, and I immediately ordered it for our two new puppies. What a great concept, and you wonder why something like this has never come along before.

Initially, it was great! I was able to take the two puppies on a walk with no issues. It wasn't perfect. Yes, it spins, but it sometimes needed to be unwound. Occasionally, one cord would not quickly retract and get caught under a leg. Still, 100% better than trying to walk with two leashes.

Fast forward a few months, and the "retract" button constantly sticks; the cords don't smoothly retract, and I'm not confident that it will last much longer. I still use it, because it's easier to use still than two leashes, but I'm disappointed in the quality and longevity.

I'd even be willing to pay for a new one, but that won't work. They stay on backorder!

Amazing concept, but needed more time to harden for market and more capacity to satisfy demand!

Not worth $50
by: Anonymous

I bought this leash about 6 months ago and the first problem was, one side did not retract smoothly. I sent three emails to the company in Tampa and never got a reply. Now the cord has shredded on one side making this $50 leash unusable in less than 6 months of use.

I have had and order in with Sky Mall for 6mos and all I have received is email telling me it is backed ordered. I truly believe the product does not exist it is nothing but hype. So if you are looking to Purchase the freedom leash do not hold your breath you may perish before it is available.
