Video: Dog Bites Off Drunk Man's Toe to Save His Life?by Dr. Chris August 5, 2010 Did a dog save a drunk owner's life by biting off his toe? That is how the owner is spinning the story. Apparently, Jerry Douthett was laying in his bed after a night of drinking and awoke to find his dog Kiko laying next to his foot and blood coming from his foot, with his toe missing. Douthett, 48, of Michigan says that the toe was infected and that he was not likely going to go see a doctor about it. When Jerry went to the hospital the Doctor diagnosed him with Type 2 diabetes with dangerously high blood sugar levels, and thus credited the dog with saving his life ironically. Douthett has been getting a lot of attention for this story, but says he would rather want to be known for other things then having his dog bite off his toe while he was drunk.
