What is Vectra 3D?

by Dr. Chris

November 10, 2008 Vectra 3D is a new flea control topical. It will kill 96% of adult fleas in 6 hours. The main ingredient in it is Dinotefuran, and it also has an IGR (insect growth regulator)combined with it.

By combining Dinotefuran with an IGR you can control all stages of fleas. The main problem with fleas are not necessarily the ones on your pet, but the immature stages developing on your carpet.

Pupae can survive up to 6 months in the home, but with Vectra 3D they will not.

In southern climates like California and Florida having year around flea protection for your dogs and cats is important.

Disadvantage to this product:

Unlike most flea control medication you can only get this through your Veterinarian. This makes the product less desirable for most people who just buy Frontline Plus over the internet or at the store.

Advantage to this product:

Since the main active ingredient has never been used before in flea medications, fleas should not be resistant to this type of product.

Vectra 3D is put on monthly and is available in 3 or 6 month supplies
