August 12, 2010 Concerned about Wolf attacks on pets? In Wisconsin, over 3,400 concerned pet owners, dog trainers, and others have already signed up to the Wolf Caution Alert System. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources sends these people email alerts whenever a Wolf attacks pets or hunting dogs in Wisconsin. To see a list of dog's killed this year and to subscribe to email alerts go to: Wisconsin DNR Wolves. In addition to the email alerts of wolf attacks, you can also see a "caution map" based on the locations of previous attacks. These "Wolf Caution Areas" are designed to alert hunters and pet owners of dangerous areas. According to the Wisconsin DNR, wolves have killed 12 dog and injured 7 others. Most of the dogs killed (8 of them) have been since July 1st since the start of bear trailing hound training season. These hounds are being trained to track bear, but wolves are attacking and killing them in certain areas: caution area maps.
