Woman Sues 3 Airlines After Dog Bites Her on Plane Flightby Dr. Chris
November 8, 2010 Shea Johnson of Louisville is suing SkyWest Airlines, Delta Airlines, and Southeast Airlines. She claims she was bit by a German Shepherd who was not in a carrier or a service animal. She is also suing Louisville International Airport. Under the common law, a dog's owner is lawfully accountable for harm or injury that the dog has caused. Also, if the dog harmed somebody before, or the owner's behavior was specifically unreasonable, the owner will also be responsible for punitive damages or two or three times damages. With Shea Johnson's case, her suit against the airlines and the owner of the dog is right. Both parties must be responsible to what had occurred. But the victim should prove that the particular person being charged is the owner of the dog, or the victim didn't trigger the dog to attack and the victim was behaving peaceably in a place she or he had the right to be in.
