Would You Drink Your Pet’s Water?
by Dr. Chris
July 13, 2009 Would you drink your pets water? Ask yourself that question. Put yourself in the place of your cat or dog for a moment. If you had to drink out of that water bowl would you? The answer is probably no, because most people simply do not clean their water bowl frequently enough, and do not provide fresh water frequently.
If this is you, start today by cleaning your pets water bowl with hot soap and water. Also try to use a stainless steel bowl if possible. Plastic bowls can be a good place for bacteria to grow and can be a source of acne on your pet’s chin.
Remember water gets stagnant so change it frequently. Pets need to drink lots of fresh water every day. Water is the most important nutrient your cat or dog can have. So any way that you can encourage them to drink more water would be better.
One of the best ways to get your pet to drink even more water is to get a pet fountain. A pet fountain is a moving source of water. Cats and dogs prefer to drink from moving water sources because they perceive it to be fresher, so they drink more.
If you have not yet looked into getting a pet fountain please do so now. Since summer is here and it is hot it is even more important that they drink lots of fresh water every day.
If you have a large dogs please check out this fountain: Big Dog Fountain
If you have cats and small dogs please check out this fountain: Platinum Fountain
Do your cats and dogs a favor and clean their water bowl out right now.
