yeah a pit is probably number 1 on the list BECAUSE they are also #1 on peoples list for dog fighting! Almost every dog listed is used for security purposes, so yeah, they bite, they are trained to do so! The only reason I can see that a mutt would be on there is due to the fact that there are more of those than any other type of dog, and if someone gets bitten by an unknown dog that will be the given definition! Would it not be more fair to put the breeds of dog into a category BEFORE listing them? Like "breeds who have bitten while working eg police dogs" or things like that? My dog has in fact bitten people. He is a Walker hound. He has bitten on 3 different occasions, 2 times while some stranger was trying to break into our home and one time he nipped a groomer who has slapped him trying "to get him to turn around". So will dog be classified as a known bitter? NO! My dog spends his days with our children laying on him, grandkids hanging on him, hiking trails, AND watching over our family! My dog knows no strangers when they are children. Neighborhood kids come out of the woodwork running into our yard to pet him and he loves it! He allows utility guys as needed in the yard(we do let them know to tell us first so they can be introduced to our hound!). I think it is unfair to lump together a breed of dogs based on the sole reason that people use them poorly. That is like saying all of this race or that race of people are bad based on the actions of a few! And while we are on the subject of dogs biting, what about the lil dogs? They do not cause nearly as much damage as a large dog so I think that they would be under reported! I say this based on the fact that I have always owned dogs, have been around literary thousands of them, and have only been bitten a few times, all by small dogs.I realize there are limits to the information someone can gather to make a list like this but honestly it doesnt seem that this would be a fair or accurate list without all variables listed as well.
