Taking its name from the English city of Yorkshire, Yorkshire Terriers were utilized in the 19th century to trap rats in garments mills. Remarkably enough, in its origins, the Yorkie belonged on the working class, particularly the weavers. Remarks were frequently made about how exactly the dogs' fine, silky coats were the best product of the looms. Ultimately, the breed became popular with the upper class as well. And ever since coming to America have been a favorite of everyone.

Physical Features

The Yorkshire Terrier dog is a toy sized breed. The glossy long coat is silky and fine and falls down. Coat colors appear in a tan and a steal blue color.
